Not Today

It's hard to talk about something
When your tongue keeps taking tumbles
And your mind keeps going numb,
Gumming up the works
Filling up your head with sand
As you go
Down
Down
Down...

And there goes the tangent again.
A thought that slips and slides
Like a fish through water
Or a bird through air.
I'll catch it one day.
Know what to say.
Know how to broach the subject to myself.
But not today.
Today it slips away
Like sand.
